About Us

Sue Best and Phil Bowen's colourful background in theatre and television makes them enthusiastic and friendly hosts.

Sue is a freelance director and Phil a professional actor, their joint credits including the Royal Shakespeare Company, English Shakespeare Company, the Royal Opera and the Old Vic.

Together they run Shakespeare Link, which facilitates the exploration of Shakespeare as a medium for communication and debate among groups from schools, colleges and communities.

At Penlanole, they blend their love of people, theatre and the countryside to combine hosting the Mid Wales Shakespeare Centre and working an organic farm with an open invitation for visitors to share the warm welcome and beguiling beauty of their unique home.
